There’s something special about watching a kid race down the soapbox derby hill full of excitement, nerves, and pride all wrapped in one moment. That’s exactly what the Crocker Law Firm All-American Soap Box Derby is all about.
Each year, the Bowling Green Kiwanis Club hosts this event, giving kids the chance to step outside their comfort zones, try something new, and experience the thrill of friendly competition. But the Soap Box Derby is about much more than racing. It’s about building confidence, learning new skills, and creating memories that stick long after racers cross the finish line.
Kids (ages 7 and up) can attend build clinics to learn how their cars work, how to prepare for race day, and what it takes to compete. For many, it’s their first introduction to hands-on problem solving, teamwork, and the basics of engineering. The best part is that they don’t have to do it alone.
Thanks to the Bowling Green Kiwanis Club, racers are supported every step of the way, from supplying the car and tightening the first bolt at a build clinic to the final run down the track at Phil Moore Park. As a civic organization, Kiwanis seeks to create opportunities for young people to grow, lead, and succeed. Win or lose, every racer walks away with something bigger than a trophy. They leave the track with confidence, resilience, and the knowledge that they can do hard things.
This year, the Crocker Law Firm All-American Soap Box Derby will take place at Phil Moore Park on June 5th and 6th, and it’s an event the whole community can enjoy. Whether you have a child interested in racing or just want to come out and cheer on these incredible kids, there’s a place for everyone.
To register your child for racing, bring a copy of their birth certificate and attend at least one remaining build clinic at Phil Moore Park. Details about clinic dates and times are available through the Bowling Green Kiwanis Club at the following link: https://bowlinggreen.soapboxderby.org/
